Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

Pilots have a lot of responsibility, you hold people's lives in your hands on a daily basis and, together with your colleagues, you are responsible for safe flight operations.

In order to ensure that you are a good commercial pilot, you must meet the admission requirements of Toekoen Aviation Academy, which are of a high standard, just like all the airlines where you will eventually work.

Important: all the requirements listed below are a minimum basis. Candidates may have other certifications, knowledge or skills that meet the entry requirements of Toekoen Aviation Academy. This varies from person to person and has to be considered individually.

If you do not meet the requirements below and have questions about your own background, please send an email to info@toekoenaviation.com.

Age and Nationality
  • At least 17 years old
  • The nationality is not important as long as there is a valid visa to study in the Netherlands.
  • A good command of the English language is important.
Education
  • HAVO diploma with English, Maths A or B and Physics.
  • VWO diploma with English, Maths A or B and Physics.
  • MBO4 with a technical background, this will be assessed for each candidate.

It is possible to apply for the selection procedure in your final exam year; the result of your selection remains valid for one year.

Judicial documentation

Before you start your pilot training, you must be able to submit a certificate of good conduct, also known as a VOG. This is done according to article 35 of the law on judicial and criminal records.

The following is stated in section 35 concerning the VOG, certificate of good conduct:

"Our Minister shall refuse to issue a certificate of good conduct if the judicial documentation concerning the applicant includes a criminal offence which, if repeated, in view of the risk to society and the other circumstances of the case, will impede the purpose for which the certificate of good conduct is requested".

During phase 3 of the selection, you may be asked about your past with regard to the police and the judiciary.
