Whether you want an integrated day course, a modular course, an evening course, it is possible. You can contact us for prof checks, renewals, conversions or training for grading with an airline!

All parts of our courses are fully recognized by EASA and lead to the most comprehensive certification, the European EASA ATPL (A) certification Frozen ATPL.

AVIATION FLIGHT at the HVA (University of Amsterdam)

Through this unique partnership with the HVA, you can earn an HBO degree AND become a pilot through Toekoen Aviation Academy in 4,5 years.

If you want to become a pilot, enroll in the Aviation/Flight programme at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. There is a lot involved in the landing and taking off of aircraft. And once in the air, specialists work together to make sure the flight goes smoothly.

All activities on the ground and in the air are connected. Does your heart beat faster when you are in an airport? Then Aviation is a good choice for you.

In the first year of Aviation you will be introduced to various disciplines in the world of aviation. You will learn how an aircraft is constructed and maintained. You will also learn about the layout and organisation of an airport. From the second year onwards you will choose Aviation.

Year 1

In the first year of the bachelor programme Aviation you will be introduced to various disciplines within the world of aviation. You will study science subjects (mathematics, physics) as well as business subjects (logistics, aviation business administration).

Year 2

In year 2 you will study Aviation Engineering or Aviation Operations. If you pass the track and your studies in Aviation, you will have both your Bachelor's degree and a certificate for the chosen track. This will increase your job opportunities in the future.

The Aviation study programme offers a good basis and is a stepping stone to becoming a pilot. In this second year, you will register for the strict preselection process at Toekoen Aviation Academy for the Aviation Flight programme.

Year 3

Continuing education within your graduation direction

Year 4

You will start at the integrated training for Commercial Pilot at Toekoen Aviation Academy. This course takes one and a half years. You will obtain your degree and pilot's licence in 4.5 years.

PBN Initial / Revalidation

As a result of the amended EASA regulations, it is mandatory for all pilots with an Instrument Rating to have followed additional training for GPS approaches RNAV departures and route flights (Performance Based Navigation, PBN). This training must be followed and completed at a certified ATO.

Example theory:
  • GPS principles and inherent errors
  • GPS development and use
  • GPS augmentation principles (mainly European Overlay System EGNOS)
  • PBN approach principles
  • Legal regulations and requirements
  • PBN standard operating procedures
  • Pre-flight and in-flight checks in relation to PBN
  • Briefings on the system used in the aircraft
Example approaches:
  • LNAV. In which lateral position is determined in relation to the runway, without augmentation.
  • LNAV/VNAV. Where lateral and vertical position is determined relative to the runway, without augmentation.
  • LP, determining lateral position relative to the runway, with augmentation.
  • LPV. Where lateral and vertical position is determined relative to the runway, with augmentation.

AIS has received the authorization from the IL&T to provide the combined practical and theoretical training for obtaining the PBN certificate. That is why the first initial course will start in early 2021. Registration for this has now been opened. Those already in possession of a PBN endorsement can renew it using the authorized simulators at the Toekoen Aviation Academy at Lelystad Airport.

Jetstream 31/32 -Type Rating

The training programme contains in total

  • 56 hours of theoretical training.
  • 32 hours of Full Motion Jetstream 31/32 training
Specifications
  • Classroom training on Jetstream 31/32
  • Four (4) simulator sessions (4 hours each) on the Jetstream 31/32 in which you practice raw-data flying, basic procedures, aerial work (incl. stalls) and approaches.
    Each simulator session is preceded by a briefing of 1 hour and concluded with a de-briefing of half an hour.
  • Four (4) simulator sessions (4 hours each) on the Jetream 31/32 focused on Line Oriented Flight Training (LOFT).
    Each simulator session is preceded by a one-hour briefing and concluded by a half-hour de-briefing.
  • The ninth simulator session is the type approval check.
MCC Cursus Modular

The modular MCC course shall include, at least:

  • 25 hours of theoretical instruction;
  • 20 hours of practical instruction on a FNPTII MCC;

The course is spread over a number of days, which do not necessarily need to be consecutive days. Based on the availability and student. The course shall be given upon request and therefore the exact time schedule shall be made together with the candidate.

FI - Flight Instructor Course

Giving flight instruction is great fun! Do you already have your PPL and do you want to continue in the instructional profession? Then follow the Flight Instructor course and become a flight instructor. This is a course that allows you to obtain the authority to give flight instructions on aircraft. The so-called FI.

When you are a flight instructor and you want to teach more than just PPL students, it is also possible to extend your licence. Through various instructor training courses you can teach more and more. Also, depending on demand and performance, there is a possibility of advancement within our own great enthusiastic team.

It is quite a heavy training but that is logical since you will eventually take to the air with candidates who still have to learn to fly. This requires training, not only in your teaching skills but also in the way you explain things. This is best done at Toekoen Aviation Academy which is EASA accredited.

The FI training course shall include:
  • 25 hours of teaching and learning;
  • at least 100 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction, including progress tests;
  • at least 30 hours of flight instruction, of which 25 hours shall be dual flight instruction, the remaining 5 hours may be mutual flying (that is two applicants flying together to practice flight demonstrations). 5 hours may be conducted in an FFS, an FNPT I or II or an FTD 2/3.
  • The assessment of competence is additional to the course training time.
An applicant for an FI certificate shall:
additionally, for the FI(A):
  • have received at least 10 hours of instrument flight instruction on the appropriate aircraft category, of which not more than 5 hours may be instrument ground time in an FSTD;
  • have completed 20 hours of VFR cross-country flight on the appropriate aircraft category as PIC; and
additionally, for the FI(A):
  • hold at least a CPL(A); or
  • hold at least a PPL(A) and have:
  • met the requirements for CPL theoretical knowledge, except for an FI(A) providing training for the LAPL(A) only; and
  • completed at least 200 hours of flight time on aeroplanes or TMGs, of which 150 hours as PIC;
  • have completed at least 30 hours on single-engine piston powered aeroplanes of which at least 5 hours shall have been completed during the 6 months preceding the pre-entry flight test set out in FCL.930.FI(a);
  • have completed a VFR cross-country flight as PIC, including a flight of at least 540 km (300 NM) in the course of which full stop landings at 2 different aerodromes shall be made;

The lessons are given by enthusiastic experienced flight instructors and the time frame of the training is determined in consultation.

ME-IR / SEP MEP

The purpose of the IR (SE / ME) (Instrument Rating training) is to train you as a PPL (A) or CPL (A) holder in such a way that you are competent enough to obtain an IR (A) rating.

Maintaining skills in preparation for grading or check

The training courses are coordinated so that the training can also be followed in combination with a full-time job. The training courses are also suitable for both "low-timers" and for pilots with experience.

Thanks to these training courses, you are ready for the grading at all airlines. The demand for pilots varies greatly, of course, but there are almost always several candidates for each job. Sometimes even dozens or more. Thorough preparation is therefore a requirement in all periods, not just in worse market situations. Being prepared, knowing what is being asked of you and what to look out for in your specific case gives you a huge advantage.

All simulator training is given only on certified type-specific simulator. Candidates furthermore do not progress to the next course item or simulator session unless the required standard has been obtained.

Detailed assessments are made of each course component and every course is always completed by a final examination. Detailed personal results are available (exclusively to airlines), free of charge, upon request.

Learning from Aviation!

Pilots work in a complex work environment where mistakes have major consequences. But also in business, employees have to deal with complex processes, procedures and equipment. In addition, teamwork and clear communication is valuable for every industry.
